Recent Community Involvement

During the JBA Member Luncheon on March 21st, 2024, Brian took on the role of moderator for a panel discussion featuring State Attorney Melissa Nelson, Public Defender Charlie Cofer, and Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters.

The panel discussed the collaborative dynamics between their offices, providing valuable insights into the interplay of law enforcement, prosecution, and defense strategies. Brian also recently contributed his expertise to the JBA Criminal Law Committee’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) at the JBA headquarters.

Alongside colleagues Katelyn Johnson and Tricia Rover, Brian addressed issues such as mandatory minimums, child victim depositions, surreptitious recordings, uniform bond schedules, and pretrial detention. This discussion gave attendees a deeper understanding of newly enacted laws and recent developments in the criminal law field.
