Bedell Firm attorney Valeen M. Hyde recently co-authored an article for the Jacksonville Daily Record titled, “College athletes: Cashing in with caveats.” The column reviews Florida’s new Intercollegiate Athlete Compensation and Rights Bill, which allows college athletes to receive compensation for use of their names, image and likeness. Attorney suggestions to legislators and administrators are important to help define athlete participation, and to avoid potential disparities relating to their rights.

About Valeen Hyde 

Valeen Hyde joined the Bedell Firm in 2020 as a civil litigation attorney. Valeen previously pursued a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Brian J. Davis in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division. She served as a clerk drafting proposed orders, assisting with civil and criminal trials, and working directly with Judge Davis for a term of three years. Before her clerkship, she was a civil litigator in Tampa for two years.
