Attorney Valeen M. Arena joined the Bedell Firm in 2020 as a civil litigator.
Valeen M. Arena received her undergraduate and law degree from the University of Florida. While in law school, Arena interned for the Honorable Anthony E. Porcelli, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. This led her to eventually pursue a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Brian J. Davis in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division. She served as a clerk drafting proposed orders, assisting with civil and criminal trials, and working directly with Judge Davis for a term of three years.
Prior to her clerkship, Arena practiced in civil litigation with Tampa law firm GrayRobinson, P.A. Her practice included intellectual property and construction litigation. Arena moved to Jacksonville for her clerkship and began researching law firms in the area. The Bedell Firm caught her attention for its great reputation and high-profile cases. She joined the firm upon the conclusion of her clerkship in 2020.
Arena works primarily with Bedell Firm attorney Michael Lockamy on general civil litigation cases. Her goal is to eventually specialize in cases of intellectual property. She has always had an interest in promoting the arts and protecting artists’ rights. During her clerkship, she gained experience on patent cases, copyright cases, and trademark cases. She looks forward to building on her experience at the Bedell Firm.
Arena was born in New York and raised in Flagler County, Florida. She enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, and playing with her German Shepherd, Mater—named by her nephew from the Disney movie Cars.
Arena is a first-generation college graduate and the first attorney in her family. She considers her greatest professional accomplishment being offered a federal clerkship from a United States District Court judge. Joining the Bedell Firm is another one of her great accomplishments. Arena says the most satisfying part of her job is advocating for her clients and working with such high-level attorneys. She considers them to be the most well-respected attorneys in the state.
