HENRY M. COXE, III received his undergraduate degree from The University of the South (Sewanee) and law degree from Washington & Lee University. He joined the State Attorney's Office in 1973, where he served as director of all felony divisions, and the special prosecution division (complex crimes).  From 1981 to 1996 he managed his own law firm, practicing criminal defense and administrative law. He joined the Bedell firm in 1996. He served as President of The Jacksonville Bar Association (1995-96); Chairman of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (1987-91); member of the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission (1994-96); and charter member of the Florida Bench/Bar Commission.  He is the immediate past President of The Florida Bar (2006-07) and served on the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar and its Executive Committee, the Board of Directors of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, as a Master of The Chester Bedell Inn of Court, and has chaired the Disciplinary Grievance Committee of the U.S. District Court, Jacksonville Division, and The Florida Bar.  Mr. Coxe has been a Board Certified Criminal Trial Lawyer since 1988, and for many years has been listed under that specialty in Naifeh and Smith's The Best Lawyers in America. He has been the recipient of The Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award, named the Financial/Daily News Lawyer of the Year, recipient of The Florida Bar President's Award of Merit, the ABOTA President's Award, and Jacksonville Area Legal Aid's Justice for All Award.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Delegate to the American Bar Association.  Mr. Coxe's practice focuses on criminal defense in both state and federal courts, and he has often served as special counsel to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. His wife Mary is a graduate of Wellesley College and Duke University Law School.  They have three children - Katie (University of Pennsylvania, University of Florida College of Law); Matson (Vanderbilt University); and Anne English (Davidson College).
